This book explores the factors which determine economic development in the Arab region in detail. The basic factors important for the Arab world are also placed in the context of the underdevelopment wide political economy. The factors are defined as comprising three main groups: economic, political-administrative, and socio-cultural; separately the petroleum and regional Arab economic growth are examined. In the context of the individual countries, the force and function of each determinant are further evaluated, from which the author may arrive at some important conclusions about the relationship of these determinants and their effect on growth.
